The tale of the battle b/w the mega-corporation Shinra, & the inhabitants of Wutai is narrated, & the complete tale terminates moments before FFVII starts.

In terms of gameplay, FF VII Reunion is faithful to the base game. Therefore, users begin an action role-playing game in which they discover the planet, finish missions, improve the hero, & battle using heavily arcade-based combat techniques.
